Rehab Essentials is pleased to announce the election of Jennifer Gamboa, PT, DPT, OCS as a Distinguished Scholar & Fellow of NAP in Physical Therapy. As part of the Class of 2021, she will be welcomed into NAP in March , 2021 at the NAP‘s 40th Interprofessional Celebration: Advocating, Advancing and Thriving Together forum.
Founded in 1981, NAP is an interprofessional, nonprofit organization, with membership representing 13 health care professions willing to serve as distinguished advisors to health care policy makers in Congress and elsewhere. The 13 academies of practice within the NAP include: Audiology, Dentistry, Allopathic and Osteopathic Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Podiatric Medicine, Psychology, Social Work, Speech-Language Pathology and Veterinary Medicine.
The central purpose of NAP is to advise public policy makers on health care issues using NAP’s unique perspective — that of expert practitioners and scholars joined in interprofessional dialogue and advocacy. The association honors the scholarship and contributions of health profession disciplines — including medicine, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and social work — toward interprofessional practice. Those elected to distinguished positions within the NAP are considered to be recognized leaders in their professions.
