Faculty Development Workshop: Online Instructional Design

OVERVIEW:

As educators in a professional curriculum, you are being asked to cover more information in a shorter amount of time with a smaller budget.  Recent changes to the education environment add to this complexity where you now must navigate delivering your curriculum at a distance .  This 3-session online Faculty Development Workshop will guide participants through how to design online and blended learning experiences within their own curriculum.  As active learners, faculty will utilize asynchronous foundational learning content and engage in synchronous active learning assignments, and assessment activities. At the end of the workshop, the goal is for faculty to design activities for use in the Fall 2020 semester and the knowledge to build additional activities. AUDIENCE:

This 3-session interactive virtual workshop is designed for all levels of faculty in PT education programs.  

SCHEDULE:

A formal workshop syllabus will be provided during Session 1 for those attendees wishing to use the workshop for self-reported Type 1 CEU credits.  

Session 1: Navigating Online Learning Design

Wednesday June 24, 2020  12 pm – 1:30 pm ET

• Focus:
  • Taking full advantage of the affordances of online and blended learning environments
  • Effective use of asynchronous and synchronous activities
  • Instructional Activity Design
• Attendee Assignments outside of the session will include asynchronous foundational content and design of online learning activities

 

Session 2: Active Learning Activity & Assessment Design

July 8, 2020  12 pm – 2: 30 pm ET

• Focus:
  • Instructional Activity Design
  • Assessment Activity Design
  • Group Discussion/Key Learnings from Session 1 Assignments
• Attendee Assignments outside of the session will include asynchronous foundational content and design of online learning activities

 

Session 3: Engaged Active Learning

August 5, 2020  12 pm – 2: 30 pm ET

• Focus:
  • Instructional Activity Design
  • Assessment Activity Design
  • Group Discussion/Key Learnings from Session 2 Assignments
