The 2022 CPTA Annual conference featured expert led educational sessions and discussions on the latest physical therapy best practices. During the conference, Dr. Gamboa, PT, DPT, OCS, presented Emerging Practice Trends: Role of Physical Therapist in the Science of Population Health Management, Wellness, Prevention and Immunity. During her presentation, Dr. Gamboa discussed how Population Health Management is a multi-pronged framework for preventing disease, increasing longevity of life, and promoting health through efforts and choices made by society, public, private organizations, the community, and by individuals. She covered physical therapists have the ability to improve the quality of health and quality-of-life to detecting disease and other physical and mental conditions, promoting positive health behaviors, and tracking assessing outcomes and health indicators. She included the roles of physical therapist can vary from research to education to administration to direct patient care services in primary care to address immunity, physical activity, good nutrition, sleep, stress management, smoking cessation, and avoidance of drug addictions.
