Dr. Cindy Anderson, OTD, OTR/L is a professor of occupational therapy for the entry level OTD program at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. She serves as Capstone Coordinator for the program, advising students on capstone experiences that reflect emerging areas of practice within their professional interests and pursuits. Cindy has extensive teaching experience on the topics of research, evidence-based practice, mental health practice across the lifespan, therapeutic use of self, and health and wellness practice. Prior to teaching, she practiced in mental health settings, home health, and was a consultant for individuals with disabilities. She currently supervises students providing pro-bono OT services to marginalized and underserved members of the community at a clinic and at a pre-school. Cindy is passionate about inspiring the next generation of occupational therapists to be advocates for the profession. Most recently, she has directed five student research projects exploring factors influencing professional association membership and involvement. Cindy has served on her state’s OT association board of management as secretary and presently as VP of Legislation & Practice. She has presented regionally and nationally on a variety of research and post-professional topics, including capstone experiences in emerging areas of practice, evidence-based practice, and professional advocacy.
