Douglene Jackson

PhD, OTR/L, LMT, ATP, BCTS, FAOTA

Dr. Douglene Jackson, PhD, OTR/L, LMT, ATP, BCTS, FAOTA is an occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience in the rehabilitation field, primarily with individuals with and without disabilities across the lifespan in schools, hospitals, clinics, and community-based settings. She works as an assessment consultant with WPS and is a part-time Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Community Engagement with the University of Miami Mailman Center for Child Development. Dr. Jackson is a researcher, author, leader, and advocate, holding positions and serving on professional association and community organization boards. Dr. Jackson is CEO of GIFTS Institute, where she leverages technology to improve life for individuals and organizations internationally. She excels at developing people and organizations through innovative, engaging, and effective approaches for solutions and success.

Dr. Jackson holds a PhD in Special Education in Early Childhood, a Masters in Occupational Therapy, Bachelors in Rehabilitation Services with a concentration in counseling, Diploma in Massage Therapy, and various professional certifications, including assistive technology, telehealth, yoga, qigong, mindfulness, and sensory integration. She is a dynamic informational and motivational speaker, having international experience consulting and providing training. Dr. Jackson also is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, having certifications and experience assisting organizations in critically analyzing their systems and creating positive change. She has received the American Occupational Therapy Association Award of Merit and was recognized as a Fellow in 2022. Dr. Jackson was also an awardee of The Miami Foundation’s Racial Equity Fund in 2000.
